
Massimo Quarta began studying violin at the age of 11 at the Conservatory Tito Schipa in Lecce Italy and continued his education with Beatrice Antonioni at the Music Conservatory “Santa Cecilia” in Rome. Subsequently, he became student of Paver Vernikov, Ruggiero Ricci, Abraham Shtern and Salvatore Accado. In 1991, he won the “Niccolò Paganini International Violin Competition” in Genova and the Opera Prima Philips Prize at the Vottorio Veneto Competition. Throughout his career, Massimo Quarta has performed at the Konzerthaus and the Philarmonie in Berlin, the Theatre alla Scala in Milan, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and many other stages and cities, under the baton of Christian Thielemann, Daniel Harding, Myung-Whun Chung, Vladimir Jurowski, Aldo Ceccato, Daniele Gatti, Yuri Temirkanov, Daniel Oren and Kazushi Ono, among other great conductors.
In addition to his international activity as solo violinist, he also developed an important career as conductor performing with the Vienna Philharmonic, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London, The Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, The Berlin Symphoniker, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, South Jutland Symphony Orchestra, the Malaga Philharmonic, and many other ensembles in Italy, Germany and Czech Republic. Currently he is the artistic director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of UNAM (OFUNAM).
